You should replace your cartridge every 6 to 12 months when the rated water capacity has been exceeded or when the water delivery flow rate decreases. Before replacing your filter, inspect your system, as there are three types of cartridge head styles.
The first is a non-valved head, where the filter inserts directly into the head. The second is a valved head, which features a built in shut-off valve. Finally, there are manifold multi-heads, where you'll need to shut off the water manually.
Once you've identified the head style, remove the red cap from your new cartridge. Moisten the o-ring with water, insert the cartridge into the valve head, and slowly turn it to the right. Finish by flushing your valve.
